KARL TAYLOR
Karl Taylor was raised in Penzance, Cornwall, growing up amongst the busy fishing communities of the region and spending most of his free time combing the beaches which was the catalyst for his interest in the natural world. By eleven Karl describes himself as a "budding ornithologist". Karl graduated from Carmarthen art College, receiving an award for outstanding achievement in wildlife illustration and design. In 1992 he became the first wildlife artist to exhibit at the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery. This led to commissions for their permanent exhibition. Karl has since exhibited at several Galleries in Bristol, including a number of one man shows. He is a frequent artist in residence in the Nature and Art Museum where his work is included in mixed shows. "I have spent many years observing birds and other wildlife, though much of my art reflects a long held interest in how they successfully exist alongside man. This has become even more apparent since moving back near the coast, perhaps bringing out those boyhood memories".
