I started working with clay after early retirement from teaching. I had previously studied art in college but this took the form of painting, and I thought I would take it up more seriously on retiring. I have fellow SWP member Helen Jones to thank for introducing me to clay. After trying various techniques I realised ceramic sculpture was what I loved. I use stoneware or paper clay to make figurative sculptures. I enjoy trying to capture everyday situations in life but tend to focus on the happy times. Some of the current pieces include animals which are often such an important part of our lives.
