Cristina Ariza is an abstract mixed media artist based in London. Originally from Madrid, Spain, her art explores notions of identity, change, and belonging, expressed through colour, texture, and layered materiality. In 2025, Cristina participated in several group shows across the UK, including the Gray Area Gallery, the Cromer Open, and the Bath Open Art Prize. She will also be included in the upcoming winter exhibitions at Linden Hall Studio and at the Fronteer Gallery. "My practice challenges the idea of perfection by celebrating art in its perpetual state of unfinish, trusting that truth and purpose reside within the process of creating. I let materials speak for themselves to reveal the beauty of the "unseen", relying on unusual materials that are often the backbone of the creative process, such as masking tape, cardboard and untreated canvas. Rooted in my experiences of moving countries, I explore identity, struggle, and resilience by layering mixed media textures with geometric precision. I combine unshaped drawings with hyper-pigmented forms and free-flowing strokes to find a balance between stability and spontaneity."
