Artists Statement Anthony Skates is a realist landscape painter who has been working in the Wye Valley since 2006. His practice seeks to interpret the natural landscape using modern materials in a traditional manner the majority of his work being Acrylic on either canvas on board. The utilisation of Acrylic paint allows him to explore the local landscape in a manner that underpins the vibrant colours that exist in the forests, meadows and fields of the valley and its surrounding areas (including Gloucestershire and South Wales) . Anthony completed a Foundation Course in Art of South Glamorgan Institute and then studied with the Open College of the Arts. He has exhibited widely during the last 15 years and is currently a member of the National Acrylic Painters Association (NAPA).
