PAMELA BROOKER
“I have studied ceramics in King’s Lynn, Bristol and Cardiff. I also spent three months working at a pottery in south west France, which greatly improved my throwing skills. At college I was quickly drawn to red earthenware, which I still work with today. Although I use mainly grey and white slips for the decoration which is applied with hand cut sponges, my work is always evolving and I have recently introduced a range which incorporates some colour applied in a more free style way. The designs originate from an interest in ethnic and naïve art and textiles - I like to combine the simplicity of the mark making with contemporary forms, which hopefully keep the pots fresh and current.”
