MARK MORRIS
Mark Morris is a self-taught Carmarthenshire based artist and full-time teacher. He started painting in 2007 and had his first exhibition in September 2008, his work is currently exhibited in several galleries across South Wales including the Albany Gallery, King Street Gallery and the White Lion Gallery, Tenby. Mark's work ranges from the farm characters seen at the local mart to urban scenes of London. The predominant element in his work is the study of light and the effect of people moving through the landscape. After an early fascination with the works of Turner, it was the Impressionists, especially Monet and Degas that proved the most influential. His interests in light and urban scenes, such as those depicted by Walter Sickert are amongst his main influences and he also enjoys the work of Contemporary Impressionists such as Ken Howard and Peter Brown. Mark’s output is usually studio based; he paints in acrylic, usually with several paintings in progress at any one time.
